Ice Around the Edges

Love, love, love Mary Calmes writing. She always grabs me from first page to last. I felt Evan's surprise at finding his long lost love in his hospital room. I also felt his walls go up. He tries to keep Dixon at arms length to no avail. Dixon does some serious groveling to make up for walking out ten years before. I liked that Evan accepted that part of it was how young they both were but also that he didn't fight for their relationship either.

I love the fact that both men get a second chance to admit their own parts in the breakup. There were so many understandings and now as older and wiser men it gives their second chance all the better chance of going well. And I really loved the energy and kindness of Dixon's mom. Sometimes the silliest misunderstanding can derail our life if we let them.
