April 25, 2014—Portland, OR—More than one hundred authors applauded the announcement of a new publishing imprint that will strive to reach into reader-favorite fiction genres. Elizabeth North, Executive Director of Dreamspinner Press LLC, explained at Dreamspinner’s third annual Authors’ Workshop that DSP Publications is a boutique imprint producing quality fiction that will seek to push the envelope to present immersive, unique, and unforgettable reading experiences.
“We are choosing stories that beg to be told, tales that depart from mainstream concepts to create fantastic and compelling journeys of the mind worth your time and effort,” North explained.
The new imprint’s tagline is Off the Beaten Path. Worth the Journey. Books will represent genres including fantasy, historical, horror, mystery, paranormal, science fiction, and spiritual fiction. The imprint launches its first release in October 2014.
“There are so many great stories out there. Dreamspinner has published incredible books that, though romantic stories, weren’t meeting their potential within the romance market because they had strong genre influences. To give these books the best opportunities, we want to reach genre audiences directly: present mysteries to mystery readers, science fiction to scifi readers, and so forth,” said Editor in Chief Lynn West.
Unlike its parent imprint, stories published by DSP Publications may but are not required to feature or include romance but will still uphold Dreamspinner’s connection to LGBTQ+ fiction. Dreamspinner Press is an international full-service publisher of gay romance. Dreamspinner also operates another imprint, Harmony Ink Press, which publishes LGBTQ+ Young Adult fiction that focuses on the positive personal growth of its characters.
DSP Publications is a full-service publisher and provides cover art, full editing, and marketing for every titlecontracted. The imprint is not currently open to public submissions.
