Profound Thoughts by Ethan Stone

Not too long ago I had what I thought was an extremely profound realization.

We are nothing but bugs.

Wait, let me explain. See I was camping with my daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren. The adults stayed up late and may have been drinking a little. Just a little. I swear.

Anyway, it was after just a few drinks that the insects started attacking us. Like, literally, attacking us. They were seriously dive-bombing us. Well, it was actually the lantern the little buggers were going after but they whizzed past us to get to the light.

Yes, so they could get to the light. And that’s when I had the seriously profound thought.

Now I am positive I’m not the first person who had this thought. I’m probably not even the first person to blog about it. It’s possible I may have read it. But at the time of the profound thought it was totally unique to me. At least I think it was. I did have a few drinks after all.

Practically every time someone has a near death experience they talk about a big light and being pulled toward it. Just like the lantern seemed to beckon bugs. So that made me wonder—What if people are like insects to a race of giants sitting outside with a lantern?

When people are being called to the light maybe they’re really being beckoned to a lantern.

Profound thought indeed. What do you think? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
