Vivien Dean's Top 5 Fictional Places to Escape To

Thursday August 17, 2017

Hey, everyone! I don’t know about you, but recently, I’ve been wishing I could take a break from the real world and live somewhere else for a change. So for my Top 5, I want to talk about the fictional places I would go to in a heartbeat if they were real.

5. Berk. From “How to Train Your Dragon.” After the second movie, of course, when everything is settled. Everybody gets a dragon! I’d get to pet Toothless! What’s not to love?

4. San Fransokyo. From “Big Hero 6.” I fell in love with the setting as much as I did Baymax. The blending of Tokyo architecture and Japanese iconography with an existing San Francisco, extrapolating from our current technological world to create a perfectly plausible future, is too irresistible for me.

3. Lallybroch. From “Outlander.” Yes, Jamie Fraser is a big part of my Outlander love, but I absolutely love Scotland and the Highlands in particular. I’ve told my husband it’s the only place on earth that gets snow that I’d be willing to settle in. Add that to my Outlander love, and Lallybroch is a no-brainer.

2. Asgard. From Thor. Because…Thor. And Loki. Do I really need more reason?

1. Hogwarts/Hogsmeade. From the Harry Potter books, though clarifying that is pointless, I’m sure. I would bet this is on most people’s lists, for all the obvious reasons. Magic. The charm. Quidditch. Butterbeer. Especially magic. And butterbeer.

What would be in your list of favorite fictional places to escape to?
